WBSETCL was set up in 2007 following the unbundling of the state electricity board of West Bengal. With a share of 4 percent each in the total intrastate transformer capacity, WBSETCL is the eleventh largest of the 23 state transmission utilities in the country. It is responsible for power transmission across the state at the 400 kV, 220 kV, 132 kV and 66 kV Voltage levels. The company also manages the state load dispatch center, which monitors and controls the grid operations.

Company’s transformation capacity stood at about 16,350 MVA as of March 2010. Capacity at the 220 kV and 132 kV levels constituted a roughly similar share of 40 percent of the total.

Qualification: Candidates should possess Full time 4 years BE/ B.Tech/ B.Sc (Engineering) Degree in Electrical Engineering/ Electrical & Electronics/ Power Engineering/ B.Sc (H) in Physics with 3 years, B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute approved by AICTE/ IITs for S.No- 1, Graduation in any discipline & MBA (2 years full time course)/ MPM (2 years full time course) with major specialization.

Age Limit : Minimum 18 years and maximum 27 years as on 01.01.2016. { Not Born after 1 Jan 1998 and not before 1 Jan 1989 } [upper age limit is relaxable for reserved classes as per govt norms]

Selection Process:

1. Selection will be made on the basis of performance in Written test and Interview for all posts.
2. Candidates called for Written Test / Interview shall not be entitled to reimbursement of travelling expenses.
3. The Written Test / Interview /Computer Proficiency Test /Stenography Test will be held in Kolkata only.
4. For the post of Office Executive and Stenographer Candidates shall required to appear in Computer Proficiency Test(CPT) and Stenography Test (for Stenographer post) after qualifying in Written Test.  Candidates who are not qualified in CPT / Stenography Test will not be called for the Interview.
5. Candidates must ensure that they have requisite qualifications shown against each post as per layout of qualification and fulfill all the required criteria before applying for the post.

Application Fee: General, OBC-A/B & Ex-Serviceman(UR / OBC-A & B) candidates are required to apply paying nonrefundable Application Fee of Rs. 400/- (Rupees Four Hundred only) for the post under Post Code 1 to 4 and Rs. 250/- (Rupees Two Hundred and Fifty only) for posts under Post Code 5 to 10.
