West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) is a company owned by the Government of West Bengal with the goal to carry on interalia the business of electric power generation and supply in the state of West Bengal, India. The main thermal power plants under WBPDCL are in Kolaghat, Bakreswar, Sagardighi, Santaldih,and Bandel.
WBPDCL Formed in July, 1985 with only one generating unit at Kolaghat having turnover of Rs.64 Crore paced up further to Rs.2728 Crores in 2007-08 with 20 units at Kolaghat,Bandel, Bakreswar, Santaldih and Sagardighi.

Job Location: West Bengal
Stipend: Graduate: Rs.4,984/Month ; Diploma: Rs.3,542/Month
Training Period: 12 Months
Eligibility Criteria:
Technician Apprentice (Graduate): Graduate degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering/ Electronics & Instrumentation from any institute recognized by the AICTE.
Technician Apprentice (Diploma): Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering/ Electronics & Instrumentation from any institute recognized by the AICTE.
Note:
- Only candidates having enrolled themselves under the National Apprentice Training Scheme (NATS) portal (www.mhrdnats.gov.in) shall be eligible to apply.
- Students who have completed Post Graduate qualification in Engineering (M.E/M.Tech/ MBA) are not eligible.
- Candidates who had undergone or is undergoing training or is presently in employment after attainment of qualification shall NOT be eligible for being engaged as Technician Apprentice i.e. Graduate in Engineering and Diploma in Engineering.
- The applicants should NOT have completed three years after passing of the qualifying examination as on 01.01.2018 i.e, candidates having passed the Degree / Diploma in Engineering in the year 2015, 2016, 2017 are only eligible to apply.
Age limit(As on as on 01.02.2018):
- Technician Apprentice (Graduate): 18 to 24 years
- Technician Apprentice (Diploma): 18 to 25 years
Selection Process:
- Candidates shall be called for Personal Interview (PI) based on percentage of marks achieved in Diploma/Degree in Engineering in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation streams, as the case may be @ 1:5 ratio taking into consideration the respective reservation norms.
- Selected candidates shall undergo Medical Examination and will have to be declared ‘Medically Fit’ before execution of the Contract of Apprenticeship.
