West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) is a company owned by the Government of West Bengal with the goal to carry on interalia the business of electric power generation and supply in the state of West Bengal, India.
The main thermal power plants under WBPDCL are in Kolaghat, Bakreswar, Sagardighi, Santaldih and Bandel.
WBPDCL Formed in July, 1985 with only one generating unit at Kolaghat having turnover of Rs.64 Crore paced up further to Rs.2728 Crores in 2007-08 with 20 units at Kolaghat,Bandel, Bakreswar, Santaldih and Sagardighi.

The West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL), a Government of West Bengal Enterprise, engaged in the business of Generation of Electricity in the State of West Bengal, invites applications from Indian Nationals as Technician Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for imparting training as per provisions of the said act, at its Power Stations / Projects located at different places across West Bengal as given below
Position: Technician Apprentices
- Mechanical – 25 Posts
- Electrical – 20 Posts
- Instrumentation / Electronics – 15 Posts
Essential Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation (03 years full time course) from any institute recognized by the AICTE.
Age Limit: Minimum 18 years. Maximum 24 years as on 01.01.2017
Stipend: Rs. 3542/- per month
Training Period: 12 Months
Selection Process: Candidates shall be called for Personal Interview (PI) based on percentage of marks achieved in Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation @ 1:5 ratio taking into consideration the respective reservation norms. The Venue of the Personal Interview (PI) shall be at the “Bidyut Unnayan Bhaban”, Plot No. 3/C, LA-Block, Sector-III, Bidhannagar, Kolkata – 700 098
Mandatory Documents:
- Duly signed and filled in application blank / application form.
- 02 copies of recent passport size photograph.
- Enrollment number after registering themselves on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) web portal (www.mhrdnats.gov.in)
- Self attested copies of (A) Date of Birth (matriculation certificate / mark sheet / admit card or Birth Certificate) (B) Qualifying degree / diploma certificates with all semester wise / year wise mark sheets, as applicable.
