Task and Responsibilities:
As Certification Engineer you will:
- Identify the certification impacts and needs (components, systems, vehicles) & type approvals to be updated
- Find the best compromise in terms of legal compliance / costs / lead-time to perform the certification activity and so perform the worst-case discussion with the testing authorities/test institutes to establish the agreement for the witnessed tests (test object, test type, test time, certificate due date)
- Plan & perform certification testing with certification authorities, test institutes and concerned project teams.
- Coordinate the tests (if any) with the test department/laboratory (in house/external) and support and witness the certification tests with the testing authorities/test institutes; (if needed establishes a specific time plan of the witnessed certification tests).
- Provide feedback to the respective project /Design groups & prepare homologation documentations
- Provide regulation information with different level of details with in the VOLVO GTT BLR organization such as design & performance/application engineers
- Check Component /System Vehicle test reports/Certificates are inconsistent with the information as declared in homologation documents & maintain the records.
- Close coordinate with the testing team to secure pre-certification & certification tests are performed as per the scheduled time plan.
- Compile / update Global Regulatory Requirements for applicable markets such as India, China, GCC, South Africa, Latin America etc
The following Education/ knowledge/ Professional skills are required:
- Adequate technical education (Bachelor / Masters in Engineering preferably Mechanical)
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience / knowledge of different country regulations & certification processes such as ECE, GSO, GB, AIS/IS etc
- Experience of commercial vehicles, preferably category N3
- Experience
- Min 9 years in the field of Regulation & certification
- Experience of handling complete certification independently (Components / System / Vehicle) prefered
