The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) has an active research program in many areas of Astronomy and Astrophysics, which includes studies of the Sun, interplanetary scintillations, pulsars, the Interstellar medium, active galaxies and cosmology. NCRA also provides exciting opportunities and challenges in engineering fields such as Analog and Digital Electronics, Signal Processing, Antenna Design, Communication and Software Development.
NCRA currently operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), which is located approximately 80 km north of Pune, India and is the largest Radio Telescope operating at low radio frequencies. It is an open access facility and is used by astronomers across the world. NCRA also operates the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT), which is a large Cylindrical Telescope located near Udhagamandalam, India.

Salary:
- Engineer-D: Rs.83,133 PM
- Engineer-C: Rs.69,561 PM
Eligibility Criteria:
Engineer-D (Electrical):
- ME/M.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Experience: 2-3 years experience as Electrical Engineer in reputed Research Laboratory/ Universities/Institutes of Higher Education of Government /Semi-Government /reputed private institutes or industries.
Engineer-C (Telemetry):
- BE/B.Tech Degree in Electronics Engineering with minimum 60% marks from a recognized university.
- Experience: 1-2 years in Digital Electronics, Microprocessor and Microcontroller, Programming in C, PCB designing, experience in handling MSO & DSO.
Engineer-C (Digital):
- BE/B.Tech Degree in Electronics/Communication Engineering with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university.
- Experience: 1-2 years in Analog/Digital electronics / Radio Frequency systems in a large and reputed organization.
Engineer-C (Computers):
- BE/B.Tech degree in Computer Science or related field with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university.
- Experience 3 years of (1) Good knowledge in Linux and Windows OS installation, configuration and administration (2) Good knowledge of Ethernet networking and LAN maintenance (3) Good communication skill to address and manage large computer users’ day to day activities and resolving their issues.
Engineer-C (Electronics):
- BE/B.Tech Degree in Electronics Engineering with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university.
- Experience: 1-2 years in a reputed organisation/institute in the field of electronics.
Engineer-C (Mechanical):
- BE/B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university.
- Experience: 1-2 years in large structural fabrication and its erection, installation of gear oxes and coupling alignments, Hydraulic equipment maintenance, etc.
Age limit: as on 1-1-2019
- Engineer-D (Electrical): 35 years & Below
- Engineer-C (Telemetry): 33 years & Below
- Engineer-C (Electronics & Digital): 31 years & Below
- Engineer-C (Computers & Mechanical): 28 years & Below
