- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, with internship or 1+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, and front-end libraries and frameworks such as AngularJS, Bootstrap, and jQuery
- Experience with Python and other scripting languages
- Knowledge of development operations, user experience, and front-end best practices

Job Description:
Altair Engineering is seeking an experienced software development engineer to support our technical documentation team. This role will focus on maintaining our publishing and version control infrastructure, automating processes, and developing next-generation search and in-application help. We’re looking for someone who can adapt to changing priorities and maintain momentum on multiple projects. Independence and initiative are critical; the ability to work well with a global, multi-cultural team is also required. As part of an engineering software company, you’ll be immersed in a high-tech culture. Remote work arrangements are supported.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain new features and plugins for our documentation sites and applications using JavaScript, CSS, XML/XSLT, and our publishing engine, the DITA Open Toolkit (DITA-OT).
- Define and scale the CI/CD pipeline for building and deploying our help across a range of documentation teams and products using GitLab, Python, Bash/Shell scripting, and the DITA-OT.
- Develop and maintain a robust search engine for help and documentation.
- Identify opportunities and develop solutions to improve the efficiency of content publishing processes.
- Assist writing teams in troubleshooting and resolving authoring system and content build issues.
- Support a delivery model that enforces quality, content structure, version control, and publishing strategies in multiple deliverables, languages, and formats.
- Work with the team to develop prototypes for the next generation of user assistance tools, including in-application help.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and continuously improve your technical skills.
Skills:-
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, with 3+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with bash/shell scripting for CI/CD and automation tools
- Development operations experience defining and scaling Git-based CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure across multiple projects and teams
- Basic knowledge of GitLab Runner or an equivalent build-automation server tool preferred
