Western Railway in its present form came into existence on 5th November, 1951 by the merger of its forerunner, the erstwhile Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway (BB&CI), with other State Railways viz, Saurashtra, Rajputana and Jaipur. The BB&CI Railway was itself incorporated in 1855, starting with the construction of a 29 mile broad gauge track from Ankleshwar to Utran in Gujarat state on the West Coast. In 1864, the railway was extended up to Mumbai.

Western Railway, an important part of the Indian Railway system, serves the financial capital of India, Mumbai, along with almost entire area of Gujarat and some parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. For JE- Bridge/ P way/ Works/ Civil Design Drawing & Estimation:

• Candidates should complete three years of diploma in Civil Engineering or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering

For JE-Track Machine:

• Candidates should complete three years of diploma in Mechanical/ Production/ Automobile/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation

For JE-Mechanical:

• Candidates should complete three years of diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Manufacturing/ Mechatronics/ Industrial/ Machining/ Instrumentation & Control/ Tools & Machining/ Tools & Die Making/ Automobile/ Production Engineering

For JE-Electrical:

• Candidates should complete three years of diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics Engineering

For JE-Signal & Telecom:

• Candidates should complete three years of diploma in Electrical/ Electronics/ Information Technology/ Communication Engineering/ Computer Science & Engineering/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering

For Depot Material Superintendent:

• Candidates should complete three years of diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognised University

 Selection Process:

The selection process is based on the written examination followed by document verification and medical examination.

Written Examination:

• The written examination is based on Computed Based Test(CBT)
• Its is an objective multiple choice type questions
• The question paper will be in English/Hindi/Marathi/Gujarati
• 1/3 of the allotted marks for each question shall be deducted for every wrong answer
