The Company was registered as a Public Limited Company under the Companies Act, 1956 in September 1987 with the objectives of operating atomic power plants and implementing atomic power projects for generation of electricity in pursuance of the schemes and programmes of the Government of India under the Atomic Energy Act, 1962. NPCIL also has equity participation in BHAVINI, another PSU of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) which implements Fast Breeder Reactors programme in the country.

Salary:
Stipendiary Trainee/ Scientific Assistant Category-I:
- Rs. 16000/- PM for 1st Year
- Rs. 18000/- PM for 2nd Year
Scientific Assistant/B:
- The minimum pay of Rs. 35,400/- PM in Level-6 of revised pay structure
Experience: Freshers
Eligibility Criteria:
For Stipendiary Trainee/ Scientific Assistant (Category-I):
- Diploma holders in Engineering with not less than 60% marks in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Electronics Engineering recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development.
- The Diploma in Engineering should be of three years duration after SSC/HSC.
- Candidate Should had English as one of the subjects either at SSC or
at HSC level examination.
Note: Candidates who have done Diploma through Lateral entry to 2nd-year Diploma after Xth(SSC) + ITI are not eligible
For Stipendiary Trainee/ Scientific Assistant (Category-I) Science Graduate (for Health Physics Unit):
- B.Sc. with a minimum of 60% marks.
- B.Sc. with Physics as principal & Chemistry/Mathematics/Statistics/Electronics & Computer Science as a subsidiary. (OR)
- B.Sc with Chemistry as principal and Physics/Mathematics/Statistics/Electronics & Computer Science as a subsidiary. (OR)
- B.Sc with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects with equal weighting. Mathematics at H.S.C. (10+2) level is essential.
- Candidate Should had English as one of the subjects either at SSC or
at HSC level examination.
Note: Candidates having Mathematics as the principal subject at B.Sc. are not
eligible.
For Stipendiary Trainee/Scientific Assistant(ST/SA) (Category-I) Science Graduate (Chemistry):
